THE CAMPION SCHOOL - OPEN EVENING FOR PROSPECTIVE APPLICANTS FOR ADMISSION SEPTEMBER 2010
The Open Evening concerning admission of boys who will be eleven years old during the current academic year will be held at the school ( Wingletye Lane, Hornchurch) on Wednesday, 23rd September, 2009. This year there are 150 places available at the school for boys living in the Catholic Deaneries of Brentwood and Havering and the parishes of Aveley and Grays.
The Open Evening will give parents and prospective pupils the opportunity to tour the school. This has in the past few years become a very busy evening, with a great number of cars not only in the school but also congesting local roads. I am accordingly asking parents from parishes near to the school (Upminster, Hornchurch, Gidea Park and Elm Park) to attend at 6.30 pm for a short talk by me followed by a tour of the school, while parents from other parishes attend from 6.35 p.m. for a tour of the school followed by a short talk by me at 7.30 p.m. or for a final talk at 8.30 p.m. Please note that it will not be possible both to tour the school and to attend one of my talks unless you arrive by 7.30 p.m. Unless the weather has been very wet, we will probably accommodate cars on the school playing fields. The entrance is further down Wingletye Lane from the main school driveway/entrance. Please try not to block up the local roads since this upsets our neighbours and makes it difficult for ordinary traffic and for emergency vehicles to pass through the area. Please do not block other cars in as this prevents people from clearing the site as they complete their visit. If possible, please bring only prospective pupils, since additional children can find the tour and the meeting a tiresome process and can make the evening more difficult to manage.
